We sent 17-year-old Allegra Hanlon to her first Ultra Music Fest this past weekend. Here is her recollection of the experience.
How to describe Ultra? In the words of a 13 year old, I’d probably describe it as “really really CRAZYYY.” In the words of a 60 year old, I’d probably describe it as “way too many young kids looking for trouble.” However, in the words of the 16-through-25 year olds who made up most of the rambunctious crowd in Bayfront Park, Miami this past weekend, I’d describe the entire experience as freaking amazing.
Although the setting itself is bound to get your adrenaline going, with Miami’s incredible combination of skyline and bright blue ocean, it’s really the music and the crowd that not only pumps people up, but keeps them on a high that allows them to “put their motherf—king hands in the air” all day and night.
You have to imagine the excitement I felt just being able to attend something like Ultra, a place where everyone seems to go completely insane. Where nobody really cares what you do, because each and every one of them has gone, just like you, to have fun.
