A year ago this week, Rihanna debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “We Found Love,” featuring Calvin Harris. Five weeks later, the song reached No. 1, remaining on top for 10 total weeks, marking Rihanna’s longest Hot 100 reign.
Rihanna’s “We Found Love” not only sits atop the Hot 100 chart for its seventh week, the Calvin Harris-assisted track matches Rihanna’s longest Hot 100 reign (previously set by “Umbrella”). And just as we say buh-bye to 2011, Rihanna’s gone and matched Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” for most weeks at No. 1 this year. That’s about as far from a hopeless place as you can get.
This week in chart moves: Rihanna found a sixth week atop the Hot 100 with “We Found Love” feat. Calvin Harris, but her dance anthem may be dethroned by none other than The Throne in weeks to come. Jay and ‘Ye jump into the top 10 with “Ni**as in Paris.”
